Party people Kongming

I want to introduce an anime with a slightly goofy title, “Party people Kongming,” which I watched on Amazon Prime Video and found surprisingly good.

By the way, I haven’t read the original work.

Borrowing from Wikipedia,

In the story, Zhuge Liang Kongming, who died of illness in the Battle of Wuzhang Plains, reincarnates in modern-day Japan, specifically Tokyo and Shibuya in the midst of Halloween, appearing as his younger self. There, he meets a budding singer-songwriter, Tsukimi Eiko, and works as a military strategist to make her dreams come true.

I’m not sure how to describe this overview. It captures all the key points that I’d like to introduce, leaving me with nothing to write about, but it was interesting.

When I looked it up, a drama version was released in 2023, and a movie seems to be released in March this year, 2024.

I’m starting to feel like going to see a movie after a long time. I also have AEON shares…

What I thought was new when I looked at the structure is the relationship between the anime version and the live-action drama version.

Normally, you see the anime version = live-action drama version, each telling the same story in their own way, but “Party people Kongming” seems to have the anime version → (Summer Sonic participation decision) → live-action drama version, each appearing sequentially.

Also, the movie to be released this time… seems like a summary (digest version) of the common anime version. Perhaps it’s targeting people who have only seen the live-action drama version.

So, maybe I’d enjoy it more if I watched the live-action drama version… Hmm, I’ll try looking for it.
